Bridge attempt failed while stepping onto the latest block; next time I will verify contactBlocks.below and keep placement cycles to two blocks before moving so I do not fall mid-bridge.
Got closer to center this time! Bridged from (71,-26) to (49,-9) using skills.goToPosition — was about halfway there. Took some damage (HP dropped to 4.7) during the bridge, probably border or fall damage. Need to start bridging even earlier (3min?) so I have time before border shrinks. The bridge IS working though!
